News:

We're pleased to announce that "On The Way To O'Neill's: JFK In Ireland" (a play I collaborated on with Ann G. Bauer) had a wonderful run at the Midtown International Theatre Festival Reading Series this past summer in New York.

A remarkable cast illuminated this alternate history play; including Broadway veterans William Parry (Sunday In The Park With George, Assassins, Passion, Road Show), Maureen Silliman (Shenandoah – L.A. Drama Critics and Dramalogue Award winner), Charles Weldon (The River Niger) along with The Acting Company's David Foubert and one of the leads in the current  VH1 television series Tough Love, Natasha Malinsky.

The previous November "On The Way To O'Neill's"  was chosen to be the culminating performance on the the "We ARE the people" reading series, presented by the Roy Arias Theatre Center, 300 W. 43rd St. in Manhattan.

The series was a two week-end pre-election marathon. This was our second reading in New York, (see below) both of which followed the initial public reading in Hollywood.

The entire event was a great success, and we felt especially gratified by the comment of Herb Donaldson, Artistic Director of the series: "This piece is beautiful, and I'm grateful that you two have been generous to allow us the reading".

Renowned writer Andrew Greeley has just endorsed On The Way To O’Neill’s: JFK In Ireland . The Author of over 50 bestsellers, Fr. Greeley comments:

"Fascinating play.... I hope it gets performed on Broadway where it belongs!"

In addition, "O'Neill's" was featured on Ten Grand Production's "Cold Cuts Reading Series" in New York City.

This was the second time  "O'Neill's" had been read in a major city. (Previously it was at the Actor's Co-op in Hollywood), and it was a marvelous time.  Tons of good comments which all point to "O'Neill's" being ready for a full production.

It was inspired by an L.A. weekly review of "Starbucks" in which the reviewer said "Beckett also offers an amazing impression of JFK". With that in hand, we imagined answers to the question "What would have happened if JFK had lived?".

In more news:

I'm currently appearing in a principal role on Nick Cannon's new sketch comedy show for MTV called "Short Circuitz".  I play Dr. Herald (yes, that's how they spell it!) Mann, in a funky sketch called "Li'l Bit".  It was a blast to shoot and (I think) very funny.

The time leading up to "O'Neill's" was also super.  It brought with it a co-starring role on ABC's hot series "Boston Legal". This was a chance to work directly with Candice Bergen and comedy legend Carl Reiner. I played Dick, the leader of a jazz combo, who introduces Carl Reiner's character, Milton Bombay, to a welcoming up-scale supper club audience. What a privilege and a delight to work with these two!

Just before this, I was fortunate enough to  be seen as a principal  in a commercial for Barona Casino. The spot stars Kenny Rogers, Barona's celebrity spokesman, and I appear as a diner enjoying the cuisine offered by their top-flight restaurant.

In addition I also did principal work in four spots on the campaign for Prop B in the election. The storyline follows the old "Dragnet" series as two detectives go house-to-house interviewing people. The producers used the original "Dragnet" theme music, to encourage voters to "Dump the dumb dump."

The previous few months were also quite productive. They included principal work on the film "Time Cop 2" (as one of Hitler's top generals), an appearance opposite Sonia Braga on the PBS series American Family, commercial work for the internet software company E-speed, an industrial for Peregrine Systems, and of course, SLAVES OF STARBUCKS.
